Our website address is: viking-security.uk and this policy covers all sub-domains including our Moodle, mail and licence checker systems.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
We don’t use any third party analytic software on any of our sites.
Who we share your data with
We do not share you data with third party companies unless you participate in one of our training courses. In which case your qualification and a limited amount of personal data will be added to our verification portal where third parties will be able to independently validate your current status.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
For person’s that participate in one of our training courses, we will also store personal information and a copy of the submitted body of work securely offline to enable the provision of the course, to enable audits of our courses and to prevent plagiarism. The body of work will be kept for an indefinite period of time whilst your personal data will be kept for 7 years, counted from the start of the next financial year, in line with HMRC and Companies House requirements.
In addition; some of this data will be retained for use on our validation portal, to enable the third-party verification of qualifications. This data will be retained for the period your qualification remains active.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.
This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How we protect your data
All our our website and Email traffic is encrypted with SSL, HTTPS, provided by Let’s Encrypt.
All of our online payments are handled off-site by PayPal and we do not retain any payment details; other than the email address of the PayPal account and the moodle account linked with the purchase.
The personal information we keep offline is stored in a digitized form on a non-internet connected device protected by LUKS dm-crypt
What data breach procedures we have in place
Should we detect a data breach we intend to notify users within 24 hours from the email firstname.lastname@example.org.
What third parties we receive data from
We do not request data from third parties. However, on our validation portal third parties may input personal data in order to verify qualifications. This data is not stored however we do retain a log of all requests made to this system to prevent abuse.
What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data
we do not perform system based profiling or decision making.
